Biography
Athanasios Nikolaou is an Oceanographer (BSc) with an MRes in Marine Research and a PhD candidate in the Department of Marine Sciences at University of the Aegean. His research focuses on advancing ecosystem-based management and conservation across marine ecosystems. He has fieldwork experience on reef ecosystems throughout the Eastern Mediterranean and has investigated the condition of macroalgal forests using ecosystem-based indicators. In addition, he has authored 11 scientific publications and contributed to European and national research projects.
