Active in WP3 (Assessing the ecological status of reefs in Greece) through extensive underwater fieldwork, applying the ECOfast protocol during sampling.
Biography
Nicola Greggio is a marine biologist currently working as a researcher at the Department of Marine Sciences, University of the Aegean. His main area of work concerns marine conservation and restoration, with a particular focus on tropical corals, invertebrates and Mediterranean ecosystems. He has worked on various in-situ and ex-situ projects in the Maldives, the Mediterranean Sea and Aquariums (the Genoa and Cattolica Aquariums). He is a scientific and professional diver, holding Advanced Scientific Scuba Diver certification. He has applied multiple sampling protocols relating to corals, Posidonia oceanica, coralligenous communities and invertebrates. He has previously worked for the University of the Aegean on Cladocora caespitosa (reef study and restoration), Pinna nobilis (population study) and ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) projects on animal forests (study of the Mediterranean gorgonian population). He is currently involved in the CaRe-GR project for the study of reefs in Greece, where he will apply the ECOfast protocol during sampling activities, as part of Work Package 3.
