
Prof. Stelios Katsanevakis
Stelios Katsanevakis is Professor of Marine Ecology in the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of the Aegean, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Marine Ecology, Marine Biodiversity, Applied Marine Ecology, and Research Methods. He has previously served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Athens, a researcher at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, and a researcher at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre. His research focuses on marine conservation and systematic conservation planning, ecological monitoring using traditional and novel methods, and biological invasions. He has coordinated or participated as principal researcher in more than 50 national and international research projects. He is the (co)author of over 270 peer-reviewed articles in international journals, with more than 23,000 citations, and is ranked among the top 1% of scientists worldwide in Marine Biology based on Scopus standardized citation metrics (https://elsevier.digitalcommonsdata.com/datasets/btchxktzyw/7).
